A bit of background for your personal tour pictures wall and album:
Population: 13,700
Lord Mayor: Gary Burroughs
One of the most historically significant towns Around N' About Niagara, the mayor here is the only mayor in Canada titled "Lord" Mayor.
A bit before you and I were borne, over five centuries ago the area was home to our first known inhabitants, the neutral Indians.
As the first capital of Upper Canada the town was known as Newark.
The Governor to the new colony, John Graves Simcoe, represented the King of England at Newark.
Late in the 1700's settlers loyal to Britain, fled the American Revolution.
Known as United Empire Loyalists, many of them settled at Niagara-on-the-Lake where the King awarded them grants of land.
Destroyed by fire by the American Army during the war of 1812, the town was rebuilt.
Many of these homes exist today as wonderful occasions for pictures of examples of the times past.
Canada's first parliament, first census, first library and newspaper had their origins here at Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Its economy:
Obviously the future of Niagara-on-the-Lake is largely dependent on the past.
Essentially, the town is a time capsule and preserves Canada's links to British history.
Definitely the colonial vestiges are everywhere making it a photography dream location.
As a piece of living history the town is a glorious area for photos with quaint and charming shops, inns, eateries, theatres, museums, people, and historical attractions.
All fittingly compliment the town's cultural and historical feel with plenty of occasions for photos.
Definitely, tourism is central to the town's commercial profile a great location for people photography.
Fun stuff to see and do:
Historic Fort George, a jet boat ride through the rapids, world class theatre at the Shaw Festival, re-enactments of the war of 1812, horse drawn carriage tours, and much more will combine to make your visit to the prettiest town in Canada a very special and warmly remembered experience.
Discover one of the best-preserved 19th century towns on the continent in historic Niagara-on-the-Lake with its tapestry of colourful gardens, waterfront parks, stately trees and Victorian buildings.

Since 1962 Niagara-on-the-Lake has been considered the southern outpost of fine summer theatre in Ontario because of the highly acclaimed Shaw Festival Theatre, which draws theatergoers to its annual Shaw festival.
Though this town of 14,000 plus is worth visiting at anytime of the year, it's most attractive from April to October when the flowers and Shaw Festival are in bloom.
Well-maintained stately homes most are at least a century old, and the Shaw Festival epitomizes ye olde British tastefulness that is the charm of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
