Around N' About Niagara Guide to Niagara Falls Parks

Check out these groovy parks named for Queens, on to a historical battlefront, fun stuff to see and do Around N' About Niagara Parks - immaculate, relaxing, great for fascinating pictures and fun.

Niagara Parks Commission (NPC)

Many couples over the years have exchanged vows with the thunderous beauty of Niagara Falls as a backdrop, or surrounded by one of the world-renowned gardens.

With over 4,000 acres of pristine parkland and manicured gardens, there is little problem to find the perfect site for pictures of your special occasion.

Oakes Garden Theatre Directly opposite the Maid of the Mist Plaza is Oakes Garden Theatre - a free horticultural and architectural vista one of the highlights of the Niagara Parks.

The site plays host to numerous concerts throughout the year, a few years ago "Live with Regis & Kathy Lee" used the garden as a setting for their show.

Oakes Garden is popular location for photographs especially on formal occasions such as weddings; you may just get in on one of those shoots for your album.

And if not, don't forget to get a few pictures for your personal assignment album as this provides an attractive formalized entrance statement to Queen Victoria Park.

Queen Victoria Park Landscape illumination is an integral part of the park environment, as is the illumination of The Falls.

Queen Victoria Park literally celebrates the seasons in style.

Queen Victoria Park is literally the "heart" of The Niagara Parks Commission.

Bounded by the escarpment, the Niagara Gorge, and the Niagara River, the park features a valuable collection of unique native and international plant material from around the world.

Much of the plant material is labeled for your benefit.

The park also features a major rock garden, a Hybrid T Rose Garden, and two attractive carpet-bedding displays.

Numerous park benches and beautiful lawns provide a pleasant opportunity for relaxation for the weary traveler and varied locations and angles for your pictures.

NPC Events
For details on events schedules see the Around N About Niagara Guide to Niagara Falls section *Festivals & Events*

Niagara Parks Greenhouse
Located 500m south of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, this attraction was constructed by The Niagara Parks Commission in 1945.

Several major horticultural floral displays occur throughout the year, including:

All the spring and summer outdoor bedding plants for the parks system are produced at this facility.

And the Mosaiculture Garden
The Niagara Parks (NPC) newest garden is much more than a horticultural experience.

Hundreds of thousand of living plants are lovingly sculpted into incredible, larger than life creatures.

Make the most of your visit with Special Programming.

Dufferin Islands
A hidden treasure and my favourite Niagara Falls getaway spot for taking photos it is found alongside the upper Niagara River.

Just a few hundred meters south of NPC Green House these free open to the public trails invite leisurely walks and great pictures...

The trails wind through the eleven small islands, over many small bridges and lead to wonderful areas where it is possible to view and photograph waterfowl and other inhabitants.

Ten acres of paradise located 1 Km south of The Falls off The Niagara River Parkway or from Portage Road at Burning Springs Hill (across from the Marineland parking area.

Floral Clock
For more info see Around N' About Niagara Magazine Guide to Niagara Falls *Attractions* section. The clock is located on Niagara River Parkway North

Kings Bridge Park
King's Bridge Park is a wonderful spot to enjoy a leisurely picnic in full view of the upper Niagara River.

King's Bridge Parks is located at the meeting of the Niagara and Welland Rivers; a great place to access the Niagara Parks Recreation Trail for bicycling, hiking or walking the path along the Niagara River Parkway and taking pictures

Niagara Glen
Is a great area for taking pictures and is an important birding area, especially during spring and autumn bird migrations.

Feather in the Glen and a picnic area are at the entrance to this peaceful retreat of nature trails leading down the Gorge to the shore of the Niagara River

It's off the Niagara River Parkway 1 kilometer (1/2 mile) north from the Whirlpool Golf Course and 7 km. north of The Falls

Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens
The Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens was originally established in 1936 as the School for Apprentice Gardeners.

It remains a unique location for studying gardening and obtaining the knowledge necessary to grow and maintain the landscapes of the Park System. The Butterfly Conservatory is a major on-site attraction.

It is an indoor tropical paradise with over 2,000 live butterflies.

It is located 9 km (5.6 mi) north of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls via Niagara River Parkway

Niagara Parks Recreation Trail
Along the Niagara Parkway Niagara-on-the-Lake south to Fort Erie and north to Niagara-on-the-lake from our *Attractions Central* Niagara Falls The Falls
